What To Do?

Abandoned foundation of the Chicago Spire Project, March 12, 2009

So now what? I'm 3 months out of school and nothing. The recent economy issues have pretty much halted every architectural project on earth to the point where people have walked away from the foundations of their nearly constructed dreams to leave nothing but giant holes in the ground. Perhaps all of the out of work architects should fling ourselves into them to take care of our problems and fill the holes at the same time.
The general consensus is that it is simply a waiting game, like riding out a hurricane. Pick up the pieces at the end of it and start again. [assuming the storm doesn't level your house on top of you]

I think I'm going to be bar tending for a little while longer...

The Road

that seems to vanish...

Post graduation I distracted/congragulated myself with a trip to Marfa, Texas. A gift from my constantly travelling brother inlaw and my sister Dawn, it was a welcome break from, well, everything.
As I start loking forward it's hard not to be disappointed and a little frightened that the world economy has collapsed and need for architects is mirroring the drops of the international markets. As a budding architect the first step I take has major impact on the rest of my career. The types of design work I will encounter will most likely dictate the general direction of the years to come. The only problem is with very little work available, what steps can i take?
